Manipulation of photos in photojournalism

The image above was posted by a Lebanese man, and published by the Reuters News agency, but it was quickly taken down after they realized that it had been photoshopped. The image is of the Lebanese skyline after and Israeli air raid. The photographer, it would seem, wanted to create more of a devastating effect, as seen in his altered image(the first one) where the smoke is darker and a little bit thicker.

Another good example of photo manipulation in photojournalism is of celebrities. Here is a picture that many people would say they recognize the subject of:
However, while the head is obviously that of the Republican's 2008 runner for vice president Sarah Palin, the body is not. This image attracted a lot of attention especially because of the presidential campaign, even though it was a fake.
