Photoshop in Photo Journalism

Photoshop has its advantages when it comes to journalism. It can help lighten or darker photos and make the photo a better quality. Small amounts of airbrushing can be nice to cover a blemish and what not but photoshop has been taken to a whole new level in journalism.

One example is this photo of some Kardashian with her newborn baby. Women work for months to get off extra baby weight and sometimes no matter how much a woman works out her stomach may never be the same as it was before pregnancy. It is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a fact of life. Upon seeing this photo any woman with baby weight is going to feel bad about themselves for not losing weight as quickly. It is known that most celebrities are slimmed down in photos (which is also not necessary) but this is just ridiculous. It is saying that it is not okay to carry weight after carrying an extra human being.
Another example of manipulation of photos that is ridiculous and completely unnecessary is this picture of two different magazine covers. These covers feature the same photo but the skin color is changed to make her appear more appealing to whatever countries the magazines are being distributed. I don't understand why the skin color needed to be changed. Her natural skin color is beautiful and it is degrading to think other people don't think so. Also it sends a message that it matters how light your skin is.
